In 1968 with five hundred dollars in his pocket and the desire to start his own business, Wayne James established a small company and called it “James Plumbing”. Armed with only a few tools in his truck and the experience as a plumbers’ helper he set out to make a successful business and thereby be his own boss with the help of his wife.
Both he and Linda grew up on farms where a strong work ethic was a way of life; hence they possessed a special innovative spirit and uncommon passion for honesty and doing a job correctly. They wanted to develop a successful business serving “The Grand Strand” and did so. James Plumbing continues to be a growing and striving business today and can proudly report that we are currently in our 55th year of continual operation.
In 2007, Mr. and Mrs. James retired and sold the family owned company to their daughter, Tawanna and her husband James. Tawanna grew up working in the business and helping her mother in the office. While Tawanna’s husband James, on the other hand, had just retired from the military after serving in the Army as an Apache Helicopter Pilot for over 20 years.
In addition to being part owner and manager, James is also a Master Plumber with over 26 years experience in the plumbing trade. He runs the day to day operations of the small business and carries on the same values and passion upon which the company was founded, providing customers with a professional, efficient and reliable plumbing service.
