Our Story The Grand Strand's Oldest Family Owned Plumbing Company Since 1968

In 1968, with just $500 in his pocket and a determination to build something of his own, Wayne James founded James Plumbing. Armed with a few tools, a pickup truck, and the hands-on experience he had gained as a plumber’s helper, Wayne set out to create a business built on hard work, honesty, and exceptional service.

From the very beginning, his wife stood beside him, helping manage the business and supporting its daily operations. Together, they laid the foundation for a family-owned company dedicated to serving its customers with integrity, quality workmanship, and a personal commitment to every job, and the day did not end until the jobs were done.

What began as a one-truck operation has grown into a trusted, multi-generational business, proudly carrying forward the values and vision on which Wayne and his wife built the company more than five decades ago.

Wayne and Linda both grew up on family farms, where hard work, integrity, and dedication were a way of life. Those values became the foundation of James Plumbing and shaped the company's commitment to honesty, quality workmanship, and doing every job right the first time. Their innovative spirit, unwavering work ethic, and passion for serving others earned the trust of homeowners and businesses throughout the Grand Strand.

What began as a small family business has grown into one of the area's most respected plumbing companies. Today, James Plumbing proudly continues that tradition under the leadership of the second generation, remaining committed to the same core values established in 1968. As we celebrate more than 58 years of continuous service, we are honored to serve the Grand Strand with the professionalism, reliability, and customer-focused care that have defined our company for generations.

In 2007, Mr. and Mrs. James retired and passed the family-owned business to their daughter, Tawanna, and her husband, James. Having grown up in the business, Tawanna was well prepared to continue the family legacy, having spent years working alongside her parents and assisting her mother in the office. James brought extensive leadership and operational expertise after retiring from the U.S. Army, where he served for more than 20 years as an Apache helicopter pilot.

Since taking ownership in 2007, Tawanna and James have proudly led the company for nearly two decades. Together, they have remained committed to the values on which the business was founded -- delivering exceptional service, building lasting relationships with customers, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and integrity. Their dedication to excellence, combined with their hands-on approach and strong leadership, has allowed the company to grow while preserving the family traditions that have made it a trusted name in the community.

1984 to 2007 - Serving Our Country

James & Tawanna Boyers -- Owners

James Boyers is a Master Plumber with more than 30 years of experience and a retired U.S. Army Apache helicopter pilot with over 20 years of military service. Those two backgrounds share the same foundation: show up, do the job right, and never cut corners.

He brings that same exceptional leadership, discipline, and commitment to excellence to every aspect of James Plumbing Company. James oversees day-to-day operations and ensures every project is completed with the professionalism and quality craftsmanship this company has always stood for.

Tawanna Boyers grew up in this business and has been part of it her entire life. As co-owner, she helps keep everything running behind the scenes with a dedication that only comes from truly loving what you do.

Together, James and Tawanna Boyers carry forward a legacy built in 1968. Their leadership reflects the longevity, family tradition, and trusted reputation that have served the Grand Strand for more than 58 years, while continuing to grow the business with integrity, reliability, and a customer-first approach every single day.
